Meet Highland's Team
David Bodenman is Interim Chief Executive Officer of Highland Resources, Inc. (Highland), a diversified real estate company based in Houston, Texas.
Additionally, Mr. Bodenman is responsible for developing and managing Highland’s Central Texas portfolio, including Highland Horizon, Lamar Central, Chisholm Trail, HR 79, Marble Falls Ranch, Driskill Hotel, and supporting the Magnolia project in Charleston, South Carolina.
Prior to Highland, Mr. Bodenman developed multiple acres of property for industrial, retail and office projects by the Trammel Crow Company. Mr. Bodenman has been an active member in the Austin community serving as Chairman for the Austin Planning Commission and Chairman for Downtown Austin Alliance. Mr. Bodenman received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin.
Gene Hill is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Highland Industrial Park, Inc. of East Camden, Arkansas, a subsidiary of Highland Resources, Inc. of Houston, Texas.
Prior to joining Highland Industrial Park, Mr. Hill served as Vice President and General Manager for Primex Technologies making him responsible for the Hitech business unit and other ordnance production and development operations throughout the United States. He later served in the same capacity for General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems. Mr. Hill received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Jeremy Hahn, a Certified Public Accountant, is the Vice President of Finance for Highland. In addition to financial reporting, Mr. Hahn’s responsibilities include forecasting and projecting of Highland’s operations and monitoring of financial controls and ongoing financial risk and leverage. Mr. Hahn also participates in evaluating the company’s current investments, potential investments and financing sources. Prior to joining Highland, Mr. Hahn served as an Assurance Manager for BKD LLP. He provided audit, accounting and consulting services for a diversified group of clients including real estate, construction and energy firms. Mr. Hahn is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received a Bachelor of Science from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
Gloria Catalani is an Operations Manager for Highland Resources, Inc. with thirty plus years of experience participating in all facets of Highland’s real estate activities including acquisition, management and disposition.
She manages the operations of Highland’s commercial and rural land holdings in the Houston metropolitan area and the development of residential subdivisions in Houston, Texas and Norman, Oklahoma. Ms. Catalani additionally facilitated the development of an industrial park in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. She serves as liaison to Highland’s investment partners and works in partnership formation, documentation and administration. In addition to her real estate responsibilities, Ms. Catalani serves as Highland’s corporate secretary.
Jeff Simmons is Vice President and Director of Asset Management for Highland with over thirty years of commercial real estate experience. He is responsible for oversight of brokerage and property management of income producing properties in Texas, sourcing and analysis of new investments, and project financing. Prior assignments have included a portfolio of multi-family, and acquisition and disposition of commercial lots, office and retail buildings.
Mr. Simmons previously served as local and state director for Building Owners and Managers Association. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Jessie Ray is an Asset Manager for Highland Resources, overseeing properties in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas. She is responsible for the leasing, operations, and financing of properties in the Texas portfolio. Jessie executed the re-branding and re-positioning of 211 Seventh, formerly known as Southwest Tower, in the Austin CBD. She was also one of four Highland team members to work on the award-winning Lamar Central development in Austin, Texas.
Jessie has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. Her diverse background includes management of asset classes ranging from light industrial and retail to high rise office buildings. Jessie has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas Permian Basin and is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and the Urban Land Institute.
Welden Johnston is Vice President of Highland Resources, Inc. (Highland) and in 2018, opened Highland’s Charleston, South Carolina office. Mr. Johnston is leading the development of Magnolia, a 133-acre mixed use project in Charleston. Prior to relocating to Charleston, Mr. Johnston was involved in the acquisition and development of Highland properties primarily in Texas, including working on the award-winning Lamar Central development in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Johnston holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Sports, Sponsorship, and Sales from Baylor University and a Master of Real Estate Development from Clemson University. Mr. Johnston is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he participates in the Small-Scale Development Council and the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP). Mr. Johnston also serves on the board of directors as treasurer of Light from Light, a nonprofit focused on strengthening the foundation of progress in Haitian communities, empowering them for long-lasting change.
Stone Miller is a Development Officer for Highland Resources, Inc. whose primary responsibilities include the acquisition, development and disposition of Highland’s real estate holdings. Prior to joining Highland, Mr. Miller worked for Coldwell Banker Commercial Caine, in Greenville, South Carolina.
Mr. Miller received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a major in Business Finance from the University of South Carolina. He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development from Clemson University. Mr. Miller is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).
